Dascean Gods

The story of the War of the Gods and the Long Dark that resulted.

Goddess Moon, tired of her followers being persecuted by the followers of her sister and brother-in-law, conspired with Sebille, goddess of magic, to distract her relations so that she could overthrow their favored children. While it is unknown what evil afflicted Father Sun, the angry clouds of the Long Dark covered Mother Earth, cutting her off from her love.

As the Long Dark began, the priests of Dindraine, goddess of peace, met to discuss how to protect their people. Their meeting was poisoned, resulting in the deaths of the entirety of her clergy. In response, the warriors of Arthgallo, god of valor, began a campaign to wipe out the thieves’ guilds that had sprung up in the new cities. When many of the bandits fled into the wilderness they were pursued and slaughtered by those warriors, though the valiant warriors never returned. They are believed to have been ambushed by the clergy of Marrok, god of blood, and destroyed.

Meanwhile, Elaine, goddess of love, was lured to a meeting by Mabuz, god of lies, where she was cut down by Engres, god of treachery. Among the bodies of the fallen was the betrothed of a local bard named Taliesin. When he found her body, he began to sing. His song was so beautiful it caught the attention of Father Sun, bringing his attention to the plight of his children. Father Sun brought the bard’s fallen love back to life; with the attention of Father Sun, the clouds parted and the Long Dark was over. Soon after, the singer disappeared, and bards began to sing of his devotion to his revived love.
