The Tale of Leany
Leany was a young maiden who fell in love with a sailor. Though her love visited her as often as he could, being a sailor he was often away for months at a time. Though Leany knew her love to be true, her mother wished for her to settle down with a man of local means. When Leany refused, her grandmother cursed her love. When next his ship can to call, Leany learned her love had been washed overboard in a great storm. Knowing her love to still be alive, she left her tribe and took to the sea in search of him.
For time unknown she searched, until at last she arrived at a tiny island far from any known place. It was there that she found her love, stranded and alone, save for the memory of her in his heart. When they were reunited, no two people in this world have ever been happier. They set sail for home, but the ship was overcome by a storm and lost.
With the passing of the storm, the grandmother knew her curse had claimed her favorite granddaughter. Cursing herself, she wandered away from her tribe. But Leany's love was too strong to be overcome, and she and her love survived the storm. Through many trials and tribulations they returned to her tribe. When she discovered what had passed, she left her tribe and took to the sea with her love, determined that none should ever try to separate them again.
She is seen as something of a patron of maidens, lovers, wanderers and those of great passions.
